Being a Culturally Savvy Christian

John Wimber was very famous in the early 1960s. He was a very successful pop singer and earned millions a year. During that season, the cultural world was in chaos as well and was full of promiscuity and immorality.

The Beatles, rising up at the same time, was considered as the greatest band of all time, with experts even dividing pop culture between pre and post beatles!
John Wimber was offered the position of manager for beatles, but his church elders advised him against it, not encouraging him to mix with the secular world. Think about how much difference pop culture could be if John Wimber had been their manager, and eventually brought them to Christ!
3 wrong mindsets decreasing church influence

1. Coccooning: withdrawal, isolation
John 17:15,18
"I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world."

Clearly, God does not want us to withdraw and "escape from the evil world". We are to penetrate the world as salt and light!

2. Combating: Fight, resist, oppose the world.

Churches which are intolerant of sinners turn the world off wit

h self-righteous attitude. Remember John 3:16-17, Jesus did not come to condemn sinners but to bring them to repentance. The world are not our enemies, but the devil is!

3. Conforming: Compromise

This is the other extreme of Combating. It is when Christians are so tolerant of sinners, they compromise their values to become like them. "Gospel lite" syndrome, where Christians are not strong in faith and their lives do not carry the real stuff even if they seem like Christians!

Daniel - Cultural Model with Upward Mobility

Daniel was a great man of God, and had great influence. In fact, the bible only declares 3 men who have righteousness great enough to deliver themselves- Noah, Job, and Daniel. Yet, Daniel is not your typical "Christian". In the Book of Daniel, we see how Daniel conforms with the culture of the Babylonians, yet still keeps his holiness in an apparent paradox.

Dan 1:4
5 basic requirements of the king for Daniel and his friends
1. Learn the culture of the Babylon
2. Learn the language of Babylon
3. Learn the fashion of Babylon4. Change names to identify with Babylon (Dan 1:6-7) the names they had were pagan, identified them with gods of Baal!
5. Take on the jobs of Babylon.
Daniel knew all the practices of the magicians and soothsayers, though he did not participate in them. In fact, he knew the practices so well, he was made the leader of all those who practiced magic.

Dan 5:11

"There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and King Nebuchadnezzar your father—your father the king—made him chief of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers."

Daniel compromised with the kings request, but his character was not compromised.

We need to be: Savvy in faith, Savvy in culture, and know how to relate the two.

Culturally savvy Christians
1. Counter culture like aliens - coming into the culture undetected, with the purpose of world domination!2. Communicate in culture like ambassadors. Who care deeply abt ppl and learn their culture!
3. Create culture like artists.
Produce art, business, music, not just Christian art business and music!

Denzel Washington - outstanding actor who acted in violent movies and spoke vulgarities etc, yet kept his faith. When receiving his Oscar award, his faith and God could be clearly seen. However, this does mean we have a "free license" to do anything in the name of entertainment - we need to ask ourselves, what are we promoting with this action? For Denzel Washington, the role he played portrayed a corrupt cop meeting a bad end - sending out a message, "The wages of sin is death".

Dan 1:8 - Daniel's only request to keep his consecration was in food. Food served in the king's palace was pork and forbidden in the bible at that time. It was also food offered in temple worship. By consuming them, Daniel would have submitted to babylonian gods.

How to keep your holiness while in the culture? Spiritual disciplines.

1. Bible study
2. Prayer
3. Fasting - greatest form of self humbling
4. Praise and Worship & thanksgiving - thanksgiving keeps us grounded and humble
5. Solitude - set time apart to spend alone with God.
6. Confession, repentance and forgiveness.
7. Church - the moment you are too busy to go to church, is when your spiritual life starts declining.

When you lose these spiritual disciplines, the world has greater influence on you than you on them!

The greater the difference between your success in upward mobility and spiritual discipline, the greater your character deficit.

A failure in character is a failure in spiritual discipline. True holiness is not in the outward, but on the inward.

Are you too Conservative? Engage the world!
Are your overtly Contemporary? Learn spiritual disciplines!

Strengths
Conservative : Holiness, anointing, WOG, Standard
Contemporary: Relevance, Excitement, motivation & inspiration, Tolerance

Combine both strengths! The extent we can combine the two, is the extent of success of ministry.

2 Chr 7:14

"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

God is longing for His people to seek HIM, and not just what He can do. There are many who pray just because they need something or have unfulfilled desire in their lives. Although there is nothing wrong with praying for needs and wants - in fact God desires to bless His people, - there is a higher, deeper place of prayer we should go to.

Prayer is about seeking God... Not just what His hands can do for you.
James 5:13

"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray.."
God allows us to go through trials to strengthen our faith. Are you suffering ? Go to God in prayer, instead of turning against Him. God wants you to experience His reality and power for yourself.

Anyone can become successful by praying. Prayer is the foundation for building the kingdom. Prayers are eternal and outlive us. Prayer should become as natural as breathing. You create the presence of Jesus with your prayer. Prayer is the most powerful weapon given to any individual.

James 5:16-18

"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit."

Prayer is warfare. Are you going through a season of drought in your life? Speak to your circumstances. The first purpose of language was not communication, but creation! When God first spoke, 'Let there be light', He wasn't having a conversation. He was speaking light into creation by His Word!

Prayer is not lip service, but speaking out what is burning in your soul!

Go to God and seek Him with all your heart. God is not just the Lord, He is near you. It is in the midst of trials, you will come face to face with God.

Ps 23:1-2

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake."

In these first few verses, David refers to God as "the Lord" and "He", in a third person context. However, when it comes to times of trouble, God draws so near David changes the way he describes Him:

Ps 23:4

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. "

The Fourth Dimension

In basic physics, we know there is a principle of dimensions:

1st Dimension - Line
2nd Dimension - Plane
3rd Dimension - Cubic.

Every progressive dimension overshows the previous dimension. The plane is greater than the line,
the cube encompasses the plane and so on.

What is the fourth dimension? The fourth dimension - the spiritual dimension, overshadows the third dimension where we are living.

Gen 1:1-2

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters."

David Vs Goliath
Goliath came to David in the 3rd dimension. However, David came to Goliath in the 4th dimension!

Goliath - fought with natural physical strength

David - fought the Goliath with FAITH. And David won effortlessly - just by slinging a single stone, Goliath fell.

*If we can learn how to live the 4th dimension, we can do 100 persons work, by ourselves!

Our thoughts determine our future. Nothing happens by chance in your life. The things which come to reality in your life are the product of your thoughts in your heart and mind.

Says Dr Cho, "When I start my day, I think and confess, 'Today good things are going to happen! I have the Holy Spirit with me.'" The Holy Spirit hovers over our lives everyday.

**It is vital to always dwell in positive thinking!

How does the 4th dimension work?

Visions and dreams are the guide by which the 4th dimension works. Our spirit is 4th dimensional - God works and speaks to us through this dimension. God will never do something that He has not revealed to His people through the 4th dimension.

Our bodies are 3rd dimensional - and cannot comprehend godly things. It is our spirit that connects with God on spiritual matters.

Gen 15:5
"Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.""

When God asked Abraham to "come outside of his tent", it was also symbolically speaking of coming out of our 3rd dimensional world (tent) and into the 4th dimension (the stars overshadowing him)!

For 15 years Abraham lived in the 4th dimension believing for a child. Physically it was impossible, but in the 4th dimension nothing is impossible. Seek God's rhema - for His spiritual vision and dream for YOU!

Says Dr Cho, "God always speaks to me saying 'I am speaking to you in faith. The world may laugh at you in the 3rd dimension, but you lift up your head and look at Me in the 4th dimension!'"

*Never forget that you are a 4th dimensional body living in a 3rd dimensional body!

Your spirit longs to live life through you!

How do we live in the 4th dimension?

Speaking is a vital part of releasing God's power in your life. When you speak out in faith, your are living in the 4th dimension! However, if you hide the words, you are still living in the 3rd dimension and God's power cannot flow.

Remember in Gen 1:2, the Spirit of God was 'hovering' over the earth? What exactly was He waiting for? The answer is found in the next verse.

Gen 1:3
"Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light"

The Spirit moves when the Word of God is spoken!

God works when we have His thoughts, heart, word and proclaim His Word.

Dr Cho's disciples pastor the largest churches in their district. They live in the 4th dimension - the difference is in their thoughts- constantly thinking positive thoughts!

Power of visualization - Jacob and his spotted and speckled sheep.

Jacob wanted to escape from the tyranny of his employer Laban, and entered into a deal with him - all spotted and speckled sheep will be his, while the rest would belong to Laben. Laben rejoiced and jumped at this deal, since spotted and speckled sheep were rare. However, Jacob knew the power of confession and visualization - and in Gen 30 we see the miracle unfold.

Gen 30:39
So the flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, spotted.

There is a village where every mother gives birth to twins without exception. Doctors tried to find something different from their DNA but could not find anything special. It turned out that the 'secret' lied in this - in front of the public well there was an image of twin monkeys. Everyday as the women came to draw water, they began to unconsiously start visualizing for twins.

What do you have in your heart? It is what will come out in your lifê. Your mouth has tremendous power. The spoken word is powerful! Studies have shown that 98% of children learn via speech. The bible says it is by confession that we are saved!

When you are living in the 4th dimension, encourage yourself by speaking and confessing constantly. Your circumstances should not depict what God intends for you. Remember, the power of the Word of God in the 4th dimension is more powerful than the 3rd dimensional world we are living in. When you pray, dont just pray general prayers but pray specfic prayers with visions and dreams! Keep dreaming and visualizing..

The bible is like our heaven and sky, and the promises of God like the stars! Continually praise and confess Gods word!

Just want to share from one of Pst Kong's daily devotions which I think is really good. Meditate on it, I pray you will receive a revelation for your own walk with the Lord!

Supreme Motivation

That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. Philippians 3:10

Paul had an impressive resume. He was circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin. He studied in Jerusalem, trained under the feet of Gamaliel (Acts 22:3). He was a zealous Pharisee. Concerning the righteousness which is in the law, he was totally blameless. Yet for all his scholastic achievements and renown as a “Hebrew of Hebrews,” Paul would gladly throw them all away so that he can put his trust and hope in Christ alone. To him, all worldly accolades are like worthless “dung” compared with the priceless gain of knowing Jesus Christ.

Now that Paul knew Jesus, what was his supreme motivation in life? Preaching? Ministry? Church-planting? Missionary journeys? Presiding over large congregations? Writing epistles? No, none of these.

To Paul, his supreme motivation in life was to know Christ. The word “know” in the Greek is not knowledge through information or learning. It is knowledge through experience. Paul’s greatest desire in life was to experience God on a daily basis, having encounters after encounters with Christ. He wanted to encounter God in the power of His resurrection. Because God dwells in the realm of the supernatural, Paul loved the supernatural. He constantly said, “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God” (1 Cor. 2:4-5).

Apart from encountering God in His power, Paul longed to experience Him in the “fellowship of His sufferings.” The word “sufferings” is in the plural, meaning that it is not a direct reference to the cross. There are many sufferings a believer will have to go through for the cause of Christ and His kingdom. Notice too that suffering is a fellowship. It is a privilege reserved for genuine disciples whom the Lord would count worthy (Acts 5:41). Paul says, “I am to be a part of that group of people.”

The purpose of trials and testings is so that ultimately, we can learn obedience. Referring to Jesus, Hebrews 5:8 says, “Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.” Obedience, therefore, is not automatic. It has to be learned. Paul wants to be a part of the fellowship of all those who learned obedience and absolute dependence upon God.

N412, this second half of the year, get to know (ginosko, experience) the Lord in an even greater way. Feed your own spiritual man with the WOG. Personally, I always read Pst Kong's daily devotions - they are always full of truth, dealing with a wide spectrum of our walk with God.

we had fun during the 1 1/2 hours! there were food, games, performances and lots of people (:

first up, we had an interaction game.
aim: to get the paper with 'WOLVERINE' written on it
some people received a pink paper with an X-men character written on it. those who had that were MUTANS & the rest were HUMANS. [HUMANS hunt MUTANS] so we were supposed to play scissors, paper, stone with one another. and try to get the paper.

preparation for X'mas

a candle-making session at Bryan's place for X'mas!

just before we got to work, we played 'First Hand' haha

so after Bryan's maid is done with the dinner, we entered the kitchen with a pot of candles..

we melted, and melted..

voila! it's all metled; trasparent! and we're ready to do our own candles.

1st Attempt: pour hot wax into mould (wrapped with aluminium foil) and letting it dry in front of a fan..

and these were the end results..

hmm rather distorted. so we invest on another method..

2nd Attempt: pour hot wax into an aluminium tray and put the wig. wait for the wax to be semi-dry, then use the moulds to carve out the shapes.

and ta dah! our lovely candles!

we made 63 of them! SUCCESS! -high five

Hey guys!

Pastor's message on the power of spoken words, pictures, and even thoughts is truly astounding! Let's all take the word and meditate on it , let the WOG take root and bear forth good fruit in our lives! I've been taking verses from the Word which the Lord has led me to, and confessing them aloud everyday, and the more I confess them, the more the logos (Written) word is translated into the rhema (living) word!

"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us..." Eph 3:20-21

"With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible" Mtt 19:26

"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Ph 4:19

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Ph 4:13

The Word says, in all our getting, get understanding. Are you living a life based on the WOG today? Or are you living a life, influenced by what goes on in the world around you? We serve a God who is unchanging. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. God is the great I AM. He will never change!

He still loves you with an everlasting love.
He is still your provider and help in times of need.
He is still your deliverer, your sun and your shield.
He is still your shepherd.
He is still the Creator of the world, and of YOU.
He is still full of grace, mercy, righteousness and truth.
He is still, who He is.

The question is US, are we still as on fire for the Lord, today as we were when we just got saved?

The Great Commandment & the Great Commission - are they still burning in your spirit today?

The bible says, Our God is a consuming fire. God always bring life. God IS life!

What really is life?? What does it all mean?? What will it affect??

That was the few questions that went into my mind. sure this kind of questions are definately silly for someone to think about at the age of 17. but hey everyone has a life even after we die.
i remember once in church a preacher was talking about eternity in which he was saying that from the start of life which was adam in the garden of eden it was the start of a human life form. but where is the end no one knows except for God. He is the only one that knows. the preacher said that everyone is on a time line towards eternity. we are living on a void like time line. there is also another preacher that gave this illustration.

we all know our birthdates, which is of course our birthday, but we dont know of our death dates. so what about the time we have now?? our birthdate's and deathdate's are represented by dates but our life we living now is only represented by a dash (-) example 09.03.1987-08.12.2008. it made me think for our whole life which we live in the end all the people will be able to see may only be a dash. but what will it really mean anyway to the people?? cause i feel that we are living out our life not theirs. so yea sure you can look at my life, you can only see the dash but what i really see in eternity is actually a whole life speant to the maximum.

so now all to me is to live my life to the fullest and not regret it when i go through eternity with God and Jesus. to be i also feel that living to the fullest means to live with happiness although tough things may come my way. smiling is always a good way i tink. haha. so smile more and i know that you will definately see the difference. :D :)

Brenda was a young woman who was invited to go rock climbing. Although she was scared to death, she went with her group to a tremendous granite cliff. In spite of her fear, she put on the gear, took a hold on the rope, and started up the face of that rock.

Well, she got to a ledge where she could take a breather. As she was hanging on there, the safety rope snapped against Brenda's eye and knocked out her contact lens.

Well, here she is on a rock ledge, with hundreds of feet below her and hundreds of feet above her. Of course, she looked and looked and looked, hoping it had landed on the ledge, but it just wasn't there.

Here she was, far from home, her sight now blurry. She was desperate and began to get upset, so she prayed to the Lord to help her to find it.

When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but there was no contact lens to be found. She sat down, despondent, with the rest of the party waiting for the rest of them to make it up the face of the cliff. She looked out across range after range of mountains, thinking of that Bible verse that says, "The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth." She thought, "Lord, You can see all these mountains. You know every stone and leaf, and You know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me.
Finally, they walked down the trail to the bottom.

At the bottom there was a new party of climbers just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out, "Hey, you guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?"

Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the climber saw it? An ant was moving slowly across the face of the rock, carrying it.

Brenda told me that her father is a cartoonist. When she told him the incredible story of the ant, the prayer, and the contact lens, he drew a picture of an ant lugging that contact lens with the words, "Lord, I don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it for You."

At the risk of being accused of being fatalistic, I think it would probably do some of us good to occasionally say, "God, I don't know why you want me to carry this load. I can see no good in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if you want me to carry it, I will."

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Sometimes we tend to lose sight of our original purpose in life, but just remember to live your life for God and you'll ultimately be on the right track! :)

Dear all..I was just listening to AR Bernard's podcast last night..and he talked about the value of WISDOM. His words really impacted me, and the following passage is taken from Job 28 - it talks about the value of wisdom, and how mankind often fails to see what is the most important thing in our life - getting wisdom!

There is a mine for silver and a place where gold is refined.

Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is smelted from ore. Man puts an end to the darkness; he searches the farthest recesses for ore in the blackest darkness.

Far from where people dwell he cuts a shaft, in places forgotten by the foot of man; far from men he dangles and sways. The earth, from which food comes, is transformed below as by fire;
sapphires come from its rocks, and its dust contains nuggets of gold.

No bird of prey knows that hidden path, no falcon's eye has seen it. Proud beasts do not set foot on it, and no lion prowls there. Man's hand assaults the flinty rock and lays bare the roots of the mountains.

He tunnels through the rock; his eyes see all its treasures. He searches the sources of the rivers and brings hidden things to light.

But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell?

Man does not comprehend its worth; it cannot be found in the land of the living. The deep says, 'It is not in me' the sea says, 'It is not with me.'

It cannot be bought with the finest gold, nor can its price be weighed in silver. It cannot be bought with the gold of Ophir, with precious onyx or sapphires. Neither gold nor crystal can compare with it, nor can it be had for jewels of gold.

Coral and jasper are not worthy of mention; the price of wisdom is beyond rubies.
The topaz of Cush cannot compare with it; it cannot be bought with pure gold.

Where then does wisdom come from? Where does understanding dwell?

It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing, concealed even from the birds of the air.

Destruction and Death say, 'Only a rumor of it has reached our ears.' God understands the way to it and He alone knows where it dwells, for He views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. When He established the force of the wind and measured out the waters, when He made a decree for the rain and a path for the thunderstorm, then He looked at wisdom and appraised it; He confirmed it and tested it.

And He said to man,
'The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom,
and to shun evil is understanding.' "

Friends, while we are yet young, let's learn to be wise people, to have the wisdom of God in our lives. When you have wisdom, you'll find that you'll have power and authority in life. Like what AR Bernard said, either you make a decision using the power of CHOICE to CHOOSE to be wise, .... or you HAVE CHOSEN to be foolish

Let's persue the wisdom of God!!

I was reading my friend's blog when I came across this quote, which really inspired me. Many things we ask ourselves what is our purpose in life is. Well here is the model answer, to be a gift to our beloved father.

To add on to my "revelation" today, in Revelation 3:8, "I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it. for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name". Many times we are weaker than our circumstances, but as long as we keep faith, as long as we keep believing that He will make things better for us, He will open up doors for us, give us opportunities in our everyday lives! But its more that just having opportunities, for we keep His word because it is our daily fuel, like in Matthew 4:4, "But He answered and said, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God".

Remember that although we may seem to live lives that are extremely long, don't forget that we are living in the "last hour", like in Revelation 3:11, "Behold, I am coming quickly!", so we do not have much time to live anyway, so we might as well live for the glory of our Father who loves us dearly! Furthermore, our Father has already done so much for us in our lives, so I guess that the best way to thank Him would ultimately follow His word and His ways, so that we can BE like Him, and be a gift to Him!

hi guyz!!
the blog is like quiet. haha.
i'm juz here to share how i feel bout the whole neos camp and wad i have gained from it.

for starters i was not really in a very happy mood when i went to the camp cause of some probs i faced in sch.
but i felt happy when i went there for the 3 days.
like for the day dat we were preparing the games i felt dat we place our differences of our zones apart and came together to had fun.
definately all the games and running around made me tired but i did find a sense of joy being able to help out in the camp to let everyone to enjoy.
through the games i also made fwens from the other zones.
dis kind of bonding through the games are really to be treasured.
i also saw how the different zones from all the 4 clans came together to cheer their members on and to keep together.
although i wasn't with u guyz.
i still manage to have some time to pray with u guyz and eat with u guyz.
i really treasured the little time dat i have to spend with u guyz.
i also felt dat even when i could not join the sermons i was still impacted by the presense dat every single member brought in.
to see members joining together to pray also made me feel dat we should really pray everyday of our lives.
definately wad i gained from the camp is more than wad i given to the camp.
i gained fwenship, refreshed mindset, a bonded cg.
wad more can one person ask??
definately i will look forward to the next neos camp but i will treasure the time dat N412 will have until the next one!!
i believe N412 will be able to grow like nvr before!!

the pressence of God is wad dat keeps us moving together with Him
it brings us to Him

the pressence of God gives us guidence during the deepest valley dat we are in
the pressence of God gives us reassurence dat we are His child
nvr theless if we ourself dont make the step to take in the pressence of God in our life,
we will nvr be able to carry it
with faith, carrying the pressence of God will refresh us day by day as we go on our daily life
we will still feel tired but it will give us strength to carry on and be happy carrying it within us.
the pressence of God is like water dat quenches our thirst
so if u feel spiritually thirsty go towards God because He will be there to quench yur thirst with His pressence.

i just want to encourage you guys on your spiritual life.

let's learn not to see prayer as an obligation,
but a delight!
it's a time when we get to talk and communicate with God
don't take prayer lightly,
take it seriously!
always take your quiet time as an appointment with God!

if God is the one that you really love,
i think it's just natural to have a desire to set aside time to pray!
it's like when you like this person of the opposite gender,
you would want to spend your time in this person's presence.
this applies to God!

when you open you heart totally to Him,
He will definately move in a mighty way!
let's return to the first love that we had for Him,
and go back to the times when you are so on fire for Him!

My fwen sent me an email and it read like this:

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by: holding up a $20.00 bill In the room of 200, he asked, 'Who would like this $20 bill?' Hands started going up. He said, 'I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this. He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill . He then asked, 'Who still wants it?' Still the hands were up in the air. Well, he replied, 'What if I do this?' And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. 'Now, who still wants it?' Still the hands went into the air. My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value.
It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. i felt dat it was really good and it really shows me dat God wans to protect us, thus no matter wad happen it will still will come to us. but no matter wad we muz still pray and wait cause like wad the last line says " If God brings you to it=He will bring you through it." showing us dat God will bring us through trials and tribulation but He wont leave us there to perish by ourself, but He will still be there to protect us and look after us.

Pastor preached a powerful message yesterday..Forgiveness..
One of the major points that stuck with me was his story of the time-management expert's illustration.. This is how the story goes..

There was once a famous time-management expert who spoke at a conference to a group of successful business people. At a point of the conference, he took out a large jar from under the podium and placed it in full view of all. Then he took out some big rocks, and put as many rocks into the jar as possible.

After he had stuffed in the last rock, he turned to the audience and asked, "Is the jar full?" There was a low murmur through the crowd and one or two people answered a clear, "Yes! Its's certainly full! There's no way you'll get another rock in!" The time-management expert smiled and said, "No, it's not full yet!" He reached under the podium and brought up a bottle of gravel.

He poured in the gravel, and the gravel easily slid into the gaping spaces between the large rocks. In no time, the gravel filled the jar to the brim again. Smiling, the time-management expert turned to the crowd and asked them again, "Is the jar full?"

This time, the crowd was a little smarter, and guessing that he might have something up his sleeve, started saying, "Nope, maybe not so..."

"Your right!," smiled the expert. He took out a jar of sand this time, and by shaking the jar as he poured in the sand, he managed to pack the jar even more tightly.

This time, the jar truly looked full, but the expert was not done yet. He finally took out a jar of water, and as he poured in the water, it was evident that there truly was still space inside the apparently packed jar.

"Now, what do you think is the point of this illustration?" asked the expert. An eager-beaver enthusiastically offered up his response, "I know! It means that, no matter how packed your schedule appears, you can always manage to squeeze something else in!"

"No, that's not right!" answered the expert. "The point i want to make is, if you do not put the big rocks into the jar first, you'll never be able to put them in at all!"

Truly, if we do not know what the "big rocks" are in our life, we will end up cluttering up our life with useless things, minor, unimportant things that may seem important at the present, but really does not hold eternal or lasting value. This was really a wake up call for me...to really re-look at my life. Time is one thing that we can never recapture...time slips away and can never be recovered. What am I doing with the time that God has given to me?

How am I choosing the "big rocks" in my life? Are my decisions God-centered, or self-centered? Am I so busy holding on to past hurts and greviences, looking back and having regrets, that I have no time for what God has planned for me? Am I being distracted by momentary things and events, that I make the wrong decisions and neglect spending time on building up my "big rocks"? The Word tells us to live circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, for the days are evil! Wise people know exactly what are the important things in life, and every decision they make, will be governed by the things they value.

If a person values his marriage, he will choose to spend time taking his wife and children out for dinner, instead of drinking beer and watching soccer with his buddies all the time.

A person who values the importance of education, will choose to spend time dilligently completing his homework and revising instead of watching TV, shopping, and doing a slip-shod work at the midnight, rushing to complete assignments.

A person who values friendships will think twice before saying things, and will consciously keep his temper in check, and will take pains to go the extra mile to bless his/her friend/s.

A person who has the Lord as a Rock in his life is a person who plans his life around God.. a person who is mindful of the things of God.. a person who considers the feelings of God, who governs his life by the Word of God and not by his own desires..

Today..what are the rocks in your life? Remember, the biggest rock always has to go into the jar first, or it will not be able to fit in at all! Therefore it is insufficient to just identify the rocks that are important in our life, but it is also crucial to pioritize them. Spend some time and pioritize your life today! Dear N412, while we are still young, let's plan our life wisely and live it to the fullest, unto the Lord and for the glory of God!!

I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work,
For bills would soon be due.

Hey guys!

Time flies...its already 2008! I was just taking some time to reflect on my year of 2007..the Lord has brought me through many, many things this year..and I'm amazed at how much I've gone through! Truly, our God is a God of new things, and He loves us too much to allow us to stay the way we are!

Through the year..I've gone through tribulations in my family..I went through a valley experience..and through it, experienced the faithfulness of God..my faith and trust in God deepened greatly as a result..truly..God often allows us to go through trials and tribulations, to develop our character..to show Himself faithful and strong when we are weak..at times when the situation around me was totally hopeless, and my human strength failed, I would cry out to the Lord..and He's always faithful, always encouraging me..and letting me know that all things work out for good for those who love God!

Went through a lot more things..overall, 2007 has been truly awesome!

Whatever's happened..good or bad..

Let's give God thanks, and look forward to an astounding 2008! Indeed, eyes have not seen, nor ear heard, nor has entered into our hearts, the amazing things God has prepared for us! Let's take time to set our goals for 2008 as well..spiritual goals, academic, financial, relationships goals etc...and commit our plans to the Lord..lets enter 2008 with a clear vision and with faith and expectancy!

hey guys!! please be reminded that we're going to have our steamboat at Wei Fang's place this Thursday, 19th Dec '07!!

1. those who would like to come down early to Wei Fang's place to wrap the presents for the new friends, please be either at Serangoon or Hougang or any NEL MRT station by 10:15am. and if it's possible, can you inform me whether you would be going early or not, because we plan to meet everyone on the train. so if you don't tell me that you'll be coming, we might leave for Wei Fang's house without you! 2. those who will not be going early to Wei Fang's place, but would like to help out in the preparation of food for the steamboat, please reach her hose at about 3pm.

3. those who can't make it for the earlier appointments, nevermind! just reach Wei Fang's place at about 6:30pm, so we can start the steamboat together!!

Dear N412..

Time flies!!

So soon, its already THE week of Christmas....coming up to the birthday celebrations for our beloved Lord and King... But just like any other birthday celebrations..there's always the birthday present.. What birthday present will you give to the Lord of the earth, the king of the universe, Who owns the cattle of a thousand hills?

The most precious stones hands can wrought, all came from Him.

The deepest oyster pearl, were formed by His hands.

The stars in the sky, were placed there by the Lord Himself..and He knows them all by name.

Money? All the money that is in the earth, belongs to Him!

Really, there is noTHING on this earth we can give to the Lord... But I just sense in my heart..the Lord put in me His birthday wish..... He's longing for more souls..for more of His precious people to be reconciled back to Him..His precious people for whom He shed His blood..for whom He is praying for...people bound by the chains of the wicked one..with a veil over their faces..people walking around without a vision or a purpose, when He has already prepared for them a good and perfect plan for their life, way before the foundations of the earth were even laid..these plans He longs with all His heart to share with those who are lost...to give them a new hope, to take away the veil..to welcome into His bosom His people.... This Christmas....the best present to give to the Lord..is exactly what is in His heart...SOULS! Souls to be added into His kingdom....more people set free and living in liberty in the freedom of Christ...more people set free from the desperate evil in the world...more people discovering their God given purpose and transforming the world into the perfect plan that God had originally intended..more people saved from hurts, saved from suicidal thoughts, more families restored, relationships healed, careers rebuilt by the mighty hand of the Lord, protection from demonic influences, PEACE in the heart, JOY that is unexplainable, that flows from deep within.......

All this, comes only from the true Vine. The Perfect One, the Living Waters..the Son of God, our Lord, our Savior, our protector, our Sun and shield.....Jesus Christ.. Let's be so consumed with the vision that the Lord has put before us...this Christmas, there will be such a mighty harvest!!!

Let's GO FOR IT GUYS!! Our current no of frds are 14! Our target is 75! Let's go all out, if it's going to be up to anyone, it's going to be up to you and I!!

hey there. i was praying and suddenly this words pops up in my head, "individuality". when i tink of individuality i would tink of uniqueness, one and only, made for u only. we as individuals are walking on this planet as a person with uniqueness in us dat makes us different from each other. we are not the same. u may have the same name as another person but u are definately not like dat person neither is the person the same as u. we have different sense to fashion, different ways of tinking, different likes and dislikes which makes us unique between each other. so why do u wan to change yurself to be like another person but not be yurself?? be yurself cause u are given gifts and talents by God to show yur uniqueness. dont change yurself because u tink dat the person is better at something or u tink dat u are lacking in something. tink bout this, dat person dat u tink is better may not have some thing dat u have, maybe yur good character, maybe yur sense to fashion. even yur dreams are different. so why exchange yur dreams and vision with another juz because u tink dat it doesn't matter cause dat person have a better thing. its like jacob and esau.

this shows of Esau selling his birthright for juz a bowl of stew. in Genesis 27 Esau loses the blessing.

it really shows me that God has made unique as an individual. so why exchange yur blessing as an individual for something dat is not for u??

Well, I was really blessed. I realised I find myself limiting God on what He can do for me sometimes. At times, I'm guilty of looking at th situation a little too much& I don't realise that if I would actually trust God in doing mighty things for me, He can bring me through it all :D Don't let it be like how disbelief overcame the disciples after they saw th miracle. Idk what kind of circumstances you are in, but let's keep on trusting&believing.
